at local action group Krajina srdce / The Polánka associationMonika Smetanová, While studying tourism, she helped to run the Bernard Bolzano Gallery of Modern Art in Těchobuz and also started working in the field of regional development in the rural region of Tabor, where she comes from. For the nineteenth year she has been managing the local action group Krajina srdce, which implements a local development strategy thanks to European subsidies. She has also tried the project process in all its phases, from planning and preparation to actual implementation and billing. In total, she has realised about 25 non-profit projects ranging from youth exchanges, the establishment of a regional brand, mapping the stories of heritage sites, to projects with an artistic accent. Occasionally she lectures on this topic at the Higher School at the Higher Vocational School in Tábor. She has founded other organisations that are different from each other and reach into different fields. He has long-standing research expertise in the broad field of CAP and regional development: structural changes, CAP policy analysis, rural development strategies at local level, development of lagging regions and peripheral/mountain areas, impact evaluation of CAP and Cohesion instruments and measures, analysis of fruits and vegetables CMO, etc. He has carried out research projects and evaluation studies funded by several international organisations including the European Commission (funded by 7th ERFP, Horizon 2020, Horizon Europe, ESPON programmes, DG-Agri evaluation unit), OCDE, FAO and IFAD. At international level, he actively participated to several project missions in European Union countries and also extra EU (Armenia, Israel, and Latin American countries). He led the INEA’s work on the reform of the EU Rural Development Policy and its implementation in Italy during four programming periods (1994-99, 2000-2006, 2007-2013 and finally 2014-20). at SRAVanessa Halhead has worked with rural community development for over 35 years, at all levels including in her own rural community in the Scottish Highlands, regionally, nationally and internationally. She was part of the team that established the European Rural Community Alliance ERCA and the first European Rural Parliament. She has co-ordinated both ERCA and the ERP since the start, so has a wide understanding of rural development across Europe. She helped to establish and manage the very first rural community movement in Scotland – Highlands and Islands Forum. She worked with the Scottish Government to establish Scottish Rural Action and the first Scottish Rural Parliament, and was a Director and latterly, Acting Chair or SRA until her appointment as Honorary President. He successfully campaigned for all local authorities in the west to become stakeholders in Ireland West Airport and is a passionate believer in the concept of balanced regional development. He continues to campaign for critical infrastructural projects such as roads, rail and broadband, so rural Ireland will be able to attract significant foreign direct investment and much more importantly, will be able to grow indigenous industry and enterprise. This current infrastructural deficit in rural Ireland is the main obstacle impeding employment and investment in the county. Her commitment to rural development, with a particular focus on youth, reached new heights when she assumed the role of project coordinator for ELARD in the project RURBEST22—a European initiative dedicated to empowering and connecting rural youth across countries. Her involvement in RURBEST22 led her to apply and be part of the project Gen Z Agency. In this project, along with 24 others from Nordic countries, she formulates recommendations for Nordic ministers, the Nordic Council of Ministers, and various authorities.
