Luís Chaves (1969) Degree on Agronomical Engineering (Tropical and subtropical agriculture) from the University of Lisbon. Since 1993 until 2001, I was a rural development expert in a Portuguese NGO, collaborating in the design, follow-up and carrying out of several development projects and short missions in southern countries and local development and networking projects in Portuguese rural areas.
Since 2002 I am the national coordinator of the Portuguese Federation of Local Development Associations (Minha Terra), also acting as LEADER Local Action Groups Network, where amongst other tasks I am responsible for monitoring the definition and implementation of local development policies in rural areas, in particular Community-led Local Development.
