Irène Tolleret has been a Member of the European Parliament since 2019. She is full member of the Committee on Regional Development (REGI) and substitute member of the Committee on Agriculture and Rural Development (AGRI) and on Women's Rights and Gender Equality (FEMM). She has also been appointed co-chair of the EP Intergroup on Wine, Spirits and Quality Foodstuffs and is one of the founding member of the European Food Forum.
Irène Tolleret is also winegrower in her native region - Pic Saint Loup (Hérault) - and has a long professional experience in the sector of wine. Before being elected as a Member of the European Parliament, she served as Mayor of Fontanès and Member of the Hérault Department Council. During her mandate as a mayor, she has constituted and chaired the Local Action Group of Grand Pic Saint Loup, contributing to the implementation of the LEADER programme in the area. Her long term engagement in the promotion of rural development has been rewarded with the appointment as 1st Vice-President of the LEADER France Association.
