COOPERATION FAIR

As you know, the Congress will be focused on Cooperation.

Various networking opportunities will be available on the second day of the Congress, the Thursday 3 October, such as a cooperation wall, roundtables to brainstorm specific topics, a cooperation coaching and helpdesk, a speed-dating space and ambassadors will be available all throughout the day to share their experiences with setting cooperation projects with you.

Until then, this online forum was created for you to connect with other participant(s), disseminate your project ideas and find the right partner for your project. You can use the various sections below to introduce yourself, pitch your project, or discuss your ideas

This forum is only open to Congress participants.

cooperation programming period 2023 2027 Gal Risorsa Lomellina (Lombardy - Italy)

Quote

Dear All,

Our GAL aims to explore, at a European level, topics related to two distinct projects:

  1. the development of rural territories
  2. rice cultivation.

The first objective is to understand how other European rural areas manage their relationships with nearby cities, particularly those located about an hour away.

This project marks the third phase of a journey initiated by our GAL in 2020. After the first project, Orizzonti Rurali (Rural Horizons), which aimed to promote the rural area as a tourist destination for day trips, we continued to explore the city-rural link with another project, “Dimore e Borghi” (Residences & Villages). This project highlighted a growing interest among city dwellers in relocating to rural areas, where the quality of life is perceived to be better.

For the 2023-2027 programming period, we aim to expand our research internationally. We seek to understand if other European GAL / LAGs are interested in examining city-rural relationships or establishing collaboration agreements on topics of mutual interest. These partnerships could generate tourist flows and increase awareness of local territories, histories, and traditions.

We are looking to collaborate with European LAGs situated near cities that are interested in fostering mutual relationships in tourism and gastronomic production.

The second goal is to investigate how rice cultivation is managed in various regions where it is practiced.

We seek to connect with LAGs (from France, Spain, Portugal, or other European countries) that have explored the rice supply chain, particularly those that have investigated ways to valorize its production.

Possible cooperation themes that we would like to explore with the other GAL could be:

  1. Rice culture: Promoting rice consumption by enhancing knowledge of its sensory features and complexities, from different cultivars to culinary experiences.
  2. Non-Food uses: Diversifying and stabilizing farmers' incomes through the use of rice straw in bio-refineries, bio-building, and cosmetics.
  3. Thermal use of rice straw: Implementing district heating in rice-growing areas and developing heat and power supply chains in rural territories.
  4. Traceability: Establishing shared good practices based on common European standards.
  5. Sustainable practices: Adopting smart and rational approaches to pesticide use.

For both these cooperation projects we are looking to collaborate with European LAGs and build a project together and identify where to focus our cooperation projects in order to be attractive.

We hope to receive positive feedback soon.

Best regards

Laura
